Saxophonist and composer Tim Garland has hit the international jazz scene in recent times through working with Chick Corea and releasing two exceptional CD's:"Made By Walking" on Stretch records, and "Storms/Nocturnes" on Sirocco, a trio featuring Geoff Keezer and Joe Locke. His two current ensembles (the trio and the 9 piece Dean St. Underground Orchestra) have both recieved full houses at New Yorks Blue Note club. Both ensembles are great vehicles for Garlands' celebrated writing skills, with which he has also fulfilled commissions for a saxophone concerto, orchestral and big band pieces. He is now one of the UKs best known band leaders and writers with a fast growing international reputation, being featured on Chicks 60's Birthday video release, and traveling increasingly to festivals around the globe. Former Ronnie Scott band member Garland has also played and toured with Ralph Towner, John Taylor, Joe Locke's "StoryTelling" band with Jeff Tain Watts, Avishai Cohen, Jason Rebello, Cleo Laine and even the Brand New Heavies.
" A world class player; to qualify for such status, todays' jazz musician must not only solo like a dream, but compose and arrange expertly too, and Garland passes all three tests. Music for head and heart, this belongs on any list of jazz albums of the year" Evening Standard
"Astonishingly Brilliant, a world class virtuoso" Ian Carr, BBC Music Magazine
Tim Garland will be a featured member of Bill Brufordユs Earthworks effective January 1st 2002, and as such is available for the 2002 Festival season. |
